Issue on political prisoners in Azerbaijan not debated in todayâ€™s meeting of PACE Bureau

Problem of political prisoners in Azerbaijan was expected to be debated in the meeting. Document #11468 â€œlearning state of political prisoners in Azerbaijanâ€ prepared by Cypriot lawmaker Christos Pourgourides had to be debated in the meeting. But the document was not included to the agenda of todayâ€™s meeting. Head of Azerbaijani delegation Samad Seyidov said that this issue was not debated and will not be debated.
â€œThis issue can not be debated, as Monitoring Committee deals with it. Any document may be presented to Bureau. But should it be absolutely debated in the Bureau? Only one document was presented to Bureau concerning Azerbaijan, and it was not discussed. Bureau made decision on the other issue on Azerbaijan. The term of activity of Subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh was prolonged a year more,â€ he said. /APA/
