EU Representation in Azerbaijan to be opened with participation of European Union â€œtrioâ€, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Peter Semneby

Europa House spokesman Anar Rahimov said that the representation will be opened in the framework of EU â€œTrioâ€ visit to Baku. Representatives of EU acting chair Slovenia and further chair France are in the composition of delegation which will visit Baku. Moreover, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy will also visit Baku along with the delegation.
EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby told APA that he will also visit Azerbaijan along with the delegation.
â€œI will hold traditional meetings with government and NGO representatives and carry out debate on pre-election situation in the country and other issues in the framework of my visit to Baku,â€ he said.
EU secretariat told APA that representatives on economic and political issues are in the composition of the delegation. EU former chair Portugal representative is not expected to be among the delegation. Delegation will carry out debates on European Neighborhood Policy in Baku and Azerbaijanâ€™s integration into Europe.
The name of person who will be head of EU representation in Azerbaijan has not yet been publicized. European Commission representative to Baku Alan Waddamsâ€™ assistant Ms. Nigar Arpadarai confirmed that Alan Waddamsâ€™s name is among the candidates to the post of the head of representation, but the name of the head is not yet known. Assistant said that this issue will be clarified after representation is opened. /APA/
