20 January martyrs commemorated with a minute silence in Houston, US<font color=red>-PHOTOSESSION</font>

The event, which was held in Turkevi – Raindrop Cultural Center, started with exhibition of photos of the tragedy. Vice-president of Azerbaijan-America Council Yusif Babanli touched on the historical roots of the tragedy and said modern Armenian state exists on ancient Azerbaijani lands and this was possible with Russia’s support to Armenians. Following this, the participants watched film “Way leading to bloody January” made by Lider TV. A minute silence was observed in memory of martyrs at 16.00.
At the end of the event, the newly-established U.S. Azeris Network was presented. Secretary General of U.S. Azeris Network, director of the network for U.S. south and central regions Yusif Babanli called on American Azerbaijanis to play more active role in the socio-political life of the country via this useful social network.
The event devoted to the victims of January 20 tragedy was supported by Baku-Houston Sister Cities Association, Raindrop Turkevi – Turkish Cultural Center and Azerbaijan-America Chamber of Commerce. Under the order of Houston Mayor Bill White, a minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs’ of January 20 tragedy in Houston. /APA/
