# 19 January 2008 10:22 (UTC +04:00)
According to the resolution, peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is important for stability of the EU neighborhood and social development of the South Caucasus. The resolution says that the contradiction between the principles of self-determination and territorial integrity protract the conflicts in the South Caucasus and considers that these conflicts can be solved only peacefully.
The resolution also comments on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway saying that the railway bypasses the existing and fully operative rail line between Armenia and Turkey. The resolution calls on the countries of the South Caucasus and Turkey to pursue policy of regional integration and to refrain from any short-sighted and politically motivated regional energy and transportation projects, which violate the principles of European New Neighborhood Policy. The resolution also calls on Turkey to engage in serious and intensive efforts for the resolution of outstanding disputes with its neighbors and underlines the importance of involving the European Parliament, Council of Europe and European Commission in solving the problem of opening of Turkey-Armenia border. /APA/
