Presentation of CE â€œSupport to the anti-corruption Strategy of Azerbaijanâ€ new project held

Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan, Denis Bribosia stated the importance of holding project and noted that CE gives importance to the struggle against corruption. Ramiz Mehdiyev, head of Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated that cooperation between Azerbaijan and CE turns 11.He noted that projects carried out in the country serves for the integration into Europe.
â€œCE bases on territorial integrity and immunity of borders, solution of conflicts peacefully, protection of human rights. Unfortunately, international organizations and European countries have not yet investigated justly the aggressive policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, violation of territorial integrity, one million people becoming refugees and IDPs and they did not appreciate it rightly up to now. Though, occupation of Azerbaijani lands and its results caused violation of international law principles. We hope that the conflict will be solved peacefully. Though Azerbaijan is at a state of war, it deepens reforms carried out in all spheres,â€ he said.
Giovanni Palmieri, Head of CE Technical Cooperation Department and Scott Taylor, USAID Country Coordinator for Azerbaijan spoke about importance of struggle against corruption. Fuad Alaskerov, Presidentâ€™s Office Department on work with law enforcement chief stated that National Strategy anti-corruption and increasing transparency was adopted in July this year. National Strategy to be executed within 5 years envisages taking systematic measures in this field.
Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Council of Europe signed memorandum of understanding. GRECO aims to fulfill recommendations proposed to Azerbaijan. Project was financed by voluntary donation of United States Agency for International Development (USAID)./APA/
