Some public organizations schedule another rally on state of freedom of speech and media for December 22

Six public organizations functioning in Azerbaijan scheduled another rally on the state of freedom of speech and media for December 22. President of Public Forum for Azerbaijan, chairman of the Rally Committee Eldar Namazov told APA that the organizers of the rally appealed to Baku Mayorâ€™s Office. The authors of the appeal say it is groundless that Baku Mayorâ€™s Office did not sanction the rally in Ukrayna square on December 8. They said they have reviewed the venue offered by the city administration, stadium of Neftchi Sport Health Center in Bibiheybet, and noted that it is not suitable for mass action. Heads of public organizations presented the photos of the stadium to the city administration. Eldar Namazov underlined that they intend to appeal to court on the decision of Baku Mayorâ€™s Office.
He said they do not expect that Azerbaijani courts will pass decision in favor of organizers of the rally.
â€œBut we intend to appeal to European Court of Human Rights. Thatâ€™s why we will first appeal to local courts,â€ he said. /APA/
