Some Azerbaijani opposition parties to sue National Democratic Institute

He said that principles of choosing YAP (New Azerbaijan Party), ADP (Azerbaijan Democratic Party), Azerbaijan Popular Front Party and Musavat party should be made clear.
â€œYAP represents the authorities, it is clear, and Musavat is a party having more representatives in the parliament. But neither Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, nor Azerbaijan Democratic Party has normal organizational structures. They try to exist in the countryâ€™s political arena with support of foreign forces, such as National Democratic Institute,â€ he said.
The secretary considers that US National Democratic Instituteâ€™s actions contradict the countryâ€™s constitution and no foreign force can participate in the pre-election campaign of Azerbaijani political parties.
If this process continues, UAPFP will be obliged to sue international organizations, as well as National Democratic Institute (NDI) for illegal interference in political life of the country.
Chairman of Great Establishment Party (GEP) Fazil Gazanfaroglu accused NDI of not being interested in the promotion of democracy in Azerbaijan. GEP chairman accusing this organization of fraud said that NDI is guilty of cooperating with parties which have financial cooperation.
Fazil Gazanfaroglu said that NDIâ€™s activity in Azerbaijan should be boycotted.
â€œSteps harming democracy depend mostly on this organization. That is why we can not believe in its activity. It seems that NDI carries out its plans along with these 4 parties. But I hope that these plans will not be carried out successfully. Because real democratic forces of Azerbaijan will say their words with such steps,â€ he said.
Program representative of NDI Office in Azerbaijan Elgun Tagiyev did not comment on the sounded accusations.
â€œNDI Office in Baku has no authority to brief media. Only Washington Office can respond to sounded opinions,â€ he said. /APA/
