Allahshukur Pashazadeh receives speaker of Iranian parliament

Welcoming the visitor Sheikh said that Iran-Azerbaijan relations are developing.
“There are friendship, brotherhood relations between the two countries. Iran’s attitude towards Azerbaijani religious men is praiseworthy,” he said.
Allahshukur Pashazadeh said that atheism was official state policy during USSR period and mentioned that Soviet regime was against all religions, particularly against Islam.
“There were 18 mosques in Azerbaijan at that time, while there are thousands of them. Each Azerbaijani village has a mosque. Bibiheybat mosque was exploded during the Soviet times. It was restored after Heydar Aliyev came to power,” he said.
Iranian speaker expressing his gratitude for warm reception said this is his second visit to Azerbaijan.
“You also feel at home when you visit Iran,” he said.
Ghulam Ali Haddad Adel underlined that he is satisfied with the level of the relations between the two countries. Following this, they gave presents to each other.
Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Council is visiting Azerbaijan at the invitation of speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov. He visited Heydar Aliyev’s grave in Honor Alley and Martyrs’ Alley, met with Ogtay Asadov and President Ilham Aliyev.
Ghulam Ali Haddad Adel will visit Baku State University, the Institute of Manuscripts and Gandja in the framework of his two-day visit. /APA/
