Names of candidates for judgeship of European Court of Human Rights publicized

They are Khanlar Hajiyev who represents our country in ECHR, judge of Azizbayov district court Rashad Hasanov, judge of Nasimi district court Aygun Abdullayeva. The indicators of the three candidates coincide with the standards of European Court.
Judicial Council presented list of the candidates not long ago. After discussions of government circles on the three candidates for judgeship of ECHR, names of the candidates will be presented to CE. The list is expected to be sent till late November. Bureau of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe taking proposals of subcommittee on judicial selection, made a decision on sending back the list of the Azerbaijani candidates for judgeship in ECHR. The decision says that principle of equal rights of Azerbaijani candidates has been violated. Official Baku nominated the candidacy of Khanlar Hajiyev who represents our country in ECHR, judge of Supreme Court Zakir Guliyev and counsellor of department for work with law-enforcement bodies at Presidentâ€™s Office Sedaget Novruzova. Council selected 3 of 17 judges due to the announcement of nominating candidates to ECHR at the decision of Judicial Council on October 26, 2007. /APA/
