Ali Hasanov:â€ We are interested in objective investigation into the case of Ganimat Zahidâ€

He was arrested basing on appeal of concrete persons to the police,â€ Ali Hasanov, chief of Presidentâ€™s Office socio-political department told journalists while commenting on Zahidâ€™s arrest, editor-in-chief of Azadlig newspaper. He stressed that government is interested in objective investigation into the case of Ganimat Zahid.
â€œWe are fully interested in objective investigation of this process. I think that court will clarify this issue, but my explanation may be appreciated as influence on the decision of court. Thatâ€™s why I do not want to give any explanation,â€ he said.
Mr. Hasanov stated that government is anxious about the imprisonment of every Azerbaijani citizen, as well as journalists.
â€œOne of main demands of legal state is that people should obey laws, respect other peopleâ€™s right. In this case, nobody is arrested. President is anxious about journalistsâ€™ arrest. Journalists should learn to respect other peopleâ€™s right, should be responsible, should not insult peopleâ€™s dignity and damage their imageâ€ he said.
Mr. Hasanov noted that the issue on pardoning journalists is not on the agenda.â€ The issue on pardoning journalists is not on the agenda today, but there are appeals about that, these appeals are being considered,â€ he said./APA/
