Pakistan hosts session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers

The Minister informed about the participants on the activities implemented during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the ICFM.
Pakistan took over the chairmanship the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers from Azerbaijan. Pakistani President Parviz Musharraf addressed the session.
Sabir Rzayev said the meeting to be held tomorrow will debate three drafts resolution on Azerbaijan.
The Foreign Ministry informed that Elmar Mammadyarov had talks with the heads of the Delegations of Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran and Kazakhstan within the session. The meetings touched the bilateral relations, OIC related reforms and new Statute of the organization. Azerbaijan, which chaired the 33rd Session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers on June 19-21, 2006 in Baku, offered several proposals. The meetings focused on the discussions on the change of the organization’s name. Elmar Mammadyarov proposed to change the organization’s name to the Organization of Muslim Countries.
