Azeri peacekeepers in Afghanistan may be extended

International Security Assistance Forces of Azerbaijan may extend its peacekeeping militants in Afghanistan, stated NATO coordinator for Azerbaijan Lorenz Meyer-Minnemann at the coference on the topic of democratic management of security sector: defense, APA reports.
He said that Azerbaijani president and NATO Secretary-General reached the agreement on the issue during their meeting in Brussels.
“Azerbaijan joints the Partnership Program for Peace in 1994. Azeri militants have participated in the peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan and Balkans since 1999�, he said.
Minnemann added that Azerbaijan is pursuing policy of integration to the Euro-Atlantics structure within Individual Partnership Action Plan signed with NATO. He said NATO leadership highly appreciates this action. /APA/
