Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov brought to court to get acquainted with materials of criminal case

The trial on the appeal of Azerbaijani army officer Ramil Safarov against the April 13, 2006 decision of Budapest court will be held on February 22 in Budapest court, representative of Safarov’s family and Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry, lawyer Ikram Shirinov told the APA.
He said that he will visit Budapest on February 18 and his visit schedule has already been specified. On February 19-21 Shirinov will meet with Safarov and Hungarian lawyers to discuss preparatory issues to the trial.
Lawyer also added that today Safarov was brought to the court to get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case. Shirinov said that he had contacted with Safarov and his lawyers and discussed preparatory issues to the trial.
Other representative of the Safarovs will attend the trial because of valid reasons. The chief of Azerbaijan’s bar Azer Tagiyev will also attend the trial set on February 22. He is expected to visit Budapest together with Shirinov.
Ramil Safarov was sentenced for the murder of Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian. /APA/
