Baku - APA. A joint press conference has been held following the trilateral meeting between Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian foreign ministers in Kars, APA reports citing Anadolu agency.
Making the remarks at the press conference, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said it was a fruitful meeting at which we discussed the decisions previously adopted and the importance of the projects of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline.
The Turkish FM stated that the sides also mulled regional and international developments and expressed their similar positions. “We emphasized the importance of resolving the regional conflict within territorial integrity”, he added.
He said due to the existing problems Armenia stays away from the current tripartite mechanism. “We wish Armenia to respect its neighbors’ borders and join us”.
In her speech, Georgian FM Tamar Berushashvili stressed the 5th meeting of ministers will take place next year in Georgia, noting that they are successfully developing trilateral relations and have demonstrated strategic partnership by asserting a common position on political and economic subjects in the Kars Declaration.
“Georgia has regions under occupation. Russia, breaching international law and agreements, signed an agreement with Abkhazia on November 24. This was an action taken against the territorial integrity of Georgia. Global security can only be ensured by complying with norms of international law. In the joint declaration we’ve emphasized conflicts in the region being a major threat to peace, stability, and economic development and the importance of respecting the territorial integrity of states,” she added.
