Crimean Azerbaijani community sends proposal to Crimea’s Verkhovny Rada

Crimea – APA. Crimean Azerbaijani community addressed Verkhovny Rada (parliament) of the Crimean Autonomous Republic demanding to declare 26th February as a day of commemoration of Khojaly victims, leader of the community Rahim Humbatov told APA. He said the community’s first address was rejected by the chairman of the Crimean Rada Konstantinov. The parliament of the Crimean Autonomous Republic declared 24th April as a day of “commemoration of the victims of Armenians’ tragedy†on May 19, 2005.
“The Verkhovny Rada welcomes address of one nation and rejects another one. Such approach violates the Ukraine’s Constitution and the country’s commitment based on the international agreements to protect human rights and equal rights of the nations. The Crimean parliament passed resolution on the “Armenian genocide†violating its regulations. Taken all of these into consideration, the Crimean Azerbaijani community proposes to the Verkhovny Rada to declare 26th February as a day of commemoration of Khojaly victims or to cancel the decision on 24th Aprilâ€, said the Azerbaijani community in its letter.
