U.S. "not seeking" military base in Georgia

Tbilisi-APA.The U.S. is not planning to establish a military base in Georgian territory, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza has clarified.
He was commenting on Georgian foreign minister Grigol Vashadze’s statement to this effect in an interview.
Vashadze had said that Tbilisi is ready to consider deployment of U.S. military bases on its territory if such a request comes from Washington.
The U.S. is willing to cooperate with Georgia to strengthen security and deepen strategic partnership in accordance with the Georgia-U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter, he said at a briefing in the Georgian Parliament on Friday.
