Azerbaijani Parliament holds hearing on “Legal aspects of prevention from violence in family relations”

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev –APA. Milli Majlis has held hearings on legal aspects of prevention from violence in family relations today, APA reposts.
Kristiina Ojuland, Vice–Speaker of Estonian Parliament and representatives of several organizations and foreign embassies in Azerbaijan participated at the event within the framework of EU campaign “Stop violence against women”. Vice-Speaker Bahar Muradova noted that Azerbaijan had joined international conventions on protection of women’s rights. Muradova stated that women participated in the formation of society closely and added that there were several problems on it. She stated that there were not enough women representing in several state bodies. Ali Huseynov, head of MM Standing Commission on Issues of Legal Policy and State Building stated that Azerbaijan had taken measures on protection of women’s rights. To him, one of the parts of National Action Plan is related with the protection of women’s rights. Huseynov mentioned that the law had been adopted on Gender equality.
Kristiina Ojuland, Vice–Speaker of Estonian Parliament made a report on situation in her country in this field. She stated that approximately 500 women were victims of human trafficking per year. She added that 285 women were raped in Estonia every day.
