Tehran. Suleyman Farzaliyev – APA. Iranian Interior Ministry has dismissed rumors suggesting that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Iran following a failed coup attempt in Turkey.

Speaking at the press conference in Tehran Monday, Iran’s Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfeqari said no Turkish officials have arrived in Iran over the past coupe of days, APA’s special correspondent reported.

He also said the recent developments in Turkey and Armenia did not pose any security threats against Iran.

The deputy minister noted that from the first minutes of the events in Turkey, Iran has strengthened control at borders with this country.

“Therefore, we restricted travel of our citizens to Turkey in the first hours of the coup attempt. Once relative stability was restored in Turkey, the borders were opened and mutual travel between the two countries’ peoples was normalized from about 4:00 pm local time on Saturday.

Zolfaqari said Takfiri groups from outside Iranian borders are trying to have operations in Iran but always fail because of the intelligence vigilance of Iran’s security forces.

He cited a case when on the eve of the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan which coincides with the International Quds Day, two people were arrested in a border province who were plotting some terrorist moves.
