Tehran. Suleyman Farzaliyev – APA.  The situation along the Iranian-Azerbaijani border is stable and cooperation between the two countries in the field of security is at a high level, Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari told APA’s Tehran bureau on June 20.
Â
Referring to the recent shootout with terrorists in northwestern Iran, Zolfaqari said that a number of terrorists were killed and the security is fully ensured in that region.
Â
According to the deputy minister, a large number of Afghan citizens found shelter in Iran.
Â
Despite the fact that Iran deported most of illegal migrants last year, there is still an influx of Afghan citizens to the country, he noted.
Â
“Experience shows that if a country receives one million migrants legally, so many people attempt to cross to that country illegally,†Zolfaqari said, urging the Afghan government to be responsible in such cases and prevent the immigration of Afghan citizens.
Â
He added that the UN, in turn, should increase the amount of aid available to Iran in this field, because the allocated funds do not meet the costs.
