Baku-APA. Around 50 people have been killed and injured in several blasts which target multiple locations in and around Iraq’s capital city Baghdad, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Eight people were killed and 15 more wounded when a bomb went off at a military checkpoint in Tarmiyah, north of the capital on Saturday.

Following the incident, the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group released a statement claiming responsibility for what it said was an attack on a gathering of Iraqi government troops. Only three of the killed were soldiers.

Five more people were killed in two separate attacks on markets in Baghdad and two more lost their lives as a bomb went off in a busy restaurant. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, but such actions are usually carried out by Daesh.

The latest figures released by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq show that a total of 867 Iraqis were killed and 1,459 others injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in May.
