It has been revealed that the terrorist organization PKK, which issued a statement in northern Iraq announcing its complete withdrawal from Turkey, will also evacuate the Zap and Metina camps and abandon the caves, APA reports citing NTV channel.
A statement issued in northern Iraq said the PKK would withdraw from many points on the Turkish border and near the border. The statement from the organization's withdrawal statement noted that "similar corrective measures are being taken in positions that pose a risk of conflict and are open to possible provocations in the border regions."
PKK IS ALSO EMPTYING THE CAVES
The channel states that this statement is understood to mean that the organization will leave the Zap and Metina camps, as well as the caves in the region.
These regions also include areas where the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have been conducting large-scale operations since May 27, 2019. Hundreds of caves and shelters in the region have been targeted in the “Claw” series of operations. Overall, the Hakurk region was targeted first; Operation Claw-2, conducted in July 2019, eliminated 433 caves and shelters, and Operation Claw-3 was conducted in the Sinat-Haftanin region.
CAVES AND CAMPS ON THE BORDER WERE THE TARGET
A total of 376 terrorists were neutralized and an additional 35 caves and shelters were destroyed during Turkey's operations Claw-3 and Kaplan.
Operation "Pancha-Shimsek" began simultaneously with Operation "Pancha-Yildirim" in the Metina and Avashin-Basyan regions. A total of 199 terrorists were neutralized within the framework of Operation "Pancha-Shimsek". In addition, 222 caves and shelters were destroyed in the operation area.
