The powerful 5.2-magnitude quake occurred in northern Iran, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, APA reports.
Its epicenter was located approximately 44 km northwest of Shahrud (population around 131,000), at a depth of about 7 km.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Authorities and local services continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact of the earthquake in the settlements near the epicenter.
