The FETO terrorist organization recruited the children of those who had or wanted to have trade relations with Türkiye in foreign countries to the schools they established in those countries, said Istanbul Governor Davut Gul, APA correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.
Davut Gül said that through this method, those individuals also fell under the influence of FETÖ: “Thus, on July 15, the FETÖ terrorist organization attempted a coup. In Türkiye, it was President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s determination, the people taking to the streets in response to the President’s call, and the unity of the nation that prevented FETO's coup attempt. With the support of our patriotic sons in the military and police who opposed the coup upon the President’s call, the situation was completely brought under control by the morning of July 16.”
The Governor of Istanbul emphasized that on July 15, the people made it clear they would not hand over their elected leaders to anyone: “Our nation once again demonstrated that it will not give up these lands to anyone. FETO, having failed in Türkiye, may try to carry out its activities in foreign countries where it has established networks. We call on friendly nations to remain vigilant against the FETO terrorist organization.”
Davut Gul recalled that he was the governor of Sivas during the coup attempt: "This terrorist organization is being covered up in various ways. For example, it was revealed that FETO had established an Alevi association in Sivas."
