The Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring the current tendencies in the South Caucasus region and is in contact with neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding these developments, APA reports.
This is stated in a statement by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement notes that peace and stability in the South Caucasus serve the interests of all countries in the region: “The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the revision of the text of the peace agreement between the two countries and considers this development an important step toward achieving lasting peace in the region.
At the same time, it expresses concern over any foreign interference, especially near the common borders, which could negatively affect security and lasting stability in the region.”
The statement also states that the restoration of communication links will contribute to the stability, security, and economic development of the peoples of the region.
