"Tehran welcomes the process of normalizing relations between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye," said Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani, APA reports.
"Our position on the issue of opening communications is known. It should be carried out with full respect for the sovereignty of the parties," the ambassador noted.
Mehdi Sobhani noted that Iran accepts Armenia's diversification of its foreign policy as its natural and sovereign right:
"We do not consider it a step directed against Iran. Armenia is a sovereign state and we cannot dictate to it how to build its foreign policy. At the same time, we hope that the development of Armenia's relations with other countries will also contribute to the strengthening of its relations with Iran. We expect that the deepening of Armenian-European relations will also have a positive impact on Armenian-Iranian relations. The Armenian government has assured us that the development of its foreign policy relations is not directed against Iran, and we believe in these assurances. Armenia attaches great importance to friendship with Iran," the diplomat emphasized.
