"It would be illogical to start a dialogue with the US without a guarantee that the talks will be fruitful.", said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, APA reports.
According to him, no date and place have been set for the meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and US Presidential Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
Baghaei also stated that if the European trio activates the "snapback" mechanism against Iran, official Tehran will respond to it.
Note that the "snapback" mechanism is a mechanism that allows the European trio (Britain, Germany, and France) to impose sanctions against Tehran if Iran fails to comply with its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal.
