In a high-level reshuffle, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate saw a leadership change as Fahrettin Altun was replaced by former Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran, according to a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on Thursday, APA reports citing Türkiye Today.
Altun has also been appointed to lead the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye as part of the latest changes.
Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications was established in 2018 to oversee all state-related communication, media, broadcasting, and information exchange activities, with Altun serving as its head since its inception.
His successor, Duran, is a prominent academic and former deputy foreign minister. Prior to his short-lived role at the Foreign Ministry, he served as general coordinator of the SETA Foundation, a government-aligned think tank.
