China supports calls for a ceasefire regarding the situation around Iran, China’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, stated this during a briefing today, APA reports.
The ambassador said the situation related to Iran is at the center of global political attention.
According to her, China maintains an objective and fair position and calls for an immediate ceasefire.
She also drew attention to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s remarks that “this war should never have started.”
Lu Mei noted that China calls on all sides to strengthen mutual trust and engage in dialogue in order to prevent the escalation of armed conflict. The diplomat stressed that further violence would only deepen tensions.
The ambassador added that China highlights several key principles for a peaceful settlement of the conflict: “These include respect for state sovereignty, rejecting a ‘peace’ achieved through force, seeking equal dialogue and political solutions, and strengthening the constructive role of the international community.”
