Israel declares war against Hamas

Baku –APA. Israel began large-scale operations against Hamas. Israel’s defense minister says the country is engaged in a "war to the bitter end" against Hamas in Gaza. Ehud Barak says the massive air assault Israel launched beginning Saturday is aimed not at Gaza’s residents but at the territory’s Hamas rulers. He says the operation’s goal is to force Hamas to stop its "hostile actions" directed at Israeli civilians, APA reports quoting AFP. Israeli army declared its territory bordering with Gaza Strip a closed military zone and banned civilians, including journalists to approach the area 4 km from Gaza Strip. Reuters reports Palestinians killed three residents of Kiryat Sefer settlement of Israel in 25 km east of Quds. The Palestinians attacked the Israelis were shot dead by Israeli soldiers. Israeli troops began military operations against Hamas on December 27. 310 Palestinians were killed and more than 1400 wounded in the three-day operations. Two were killed and 7 wounded in Israeli side.
