Baghdad–APA. A trial of Muntadhar al-Zeidi, who threw his shoes at US President George Bush, will be held on December 31. He is accused of "aggression against a foreign head of state during an official visit," an offence that carries a prison term of between five and 15 years. But the court could convict him of a lesser charge of "attempted aggression", for which he could be sentenced to between one and five years. Al Zeidi’s lawyer had asked that the case was transferred from the Central Criminal Court, which handles terrorism cases, to an ordinary tribunal, but the judge refused. The 29-year old reporter is planning to sue the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s security guards over the alleged injuries he claimed he received when they beat him up afterwards.
