Two aircrafts owned by Iran Air Defence Forces pursued the U.S. plane and forced it to land in one of the aerodromes in the country. BBC News reports that the aircraft entered Iranian airspace from Turkey, flying at low altitude to avoid radar. The plane was carrying five U.S. generals and three non-military passengers. They were interrogated and released a day later after it became clear they had entered the country unintentionally. After that the aircraft was allowed to leave for Afghanistan.

But later Iran’s state television refuted the report. The channel reported that it was a civil aircraft and did not belong to the US. Pentagon also refuted the report.
