# 01 July 2008 12:08 (UTC +04:00)
Baku. Zaur Nurmammadov–APA. Turkmenistan has returned back to the Gregorian style on July 1 on the order signed by President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, APA reports. Speaker of the Parliament Agca Nurberdiyeva addressed the President to return to the old calendar. Titles of the months were changed by late President Saparmurad Niyazov in 2002. The new titles reflected the period of Turkmenbashi’s power and the history of Turkmen people. By Niyazov’s decision January was replaced with Turkmenbashi, April with the name of his mother Gurbansoltan, November with Sanjar, June – Oguz, February – Bayrak and September – Ruhname. The titles of other months were also changed. A year later Niyazov changed the titles of the days. He named Monday as “general day”, Sunday as “calm day” and Saturday as “spirit day” in honor of his book “Ruhname”.
