Iran: Stoning-sentenced womanâ€™s son and lawyer â€™freedâ€™

The men were arrested in October together with two German journalists who were interviewing them. Ghaderzade and Kian were tortured in prison, according to the International Committee Against Stoning (ICAS) and the International Committee Against Executions (ICAE), two associated human rights groups.

Prior to his arrest, Ghaderzade and his sister Sahideh Ghaderzade in an interview with AKI in October asked Italy for political asylum after feeling threatened by security authorities at home.
Mohammadi Ashtiani was earlier this year was sentenced to death for adultery and helping murder her husband. After an international outcry, her stoning sentence was suspended, but there are fears she may still be executed by hanging.
