Baku-APA. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will pay an official visit to France in next few days, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

Assad and his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy will hold talks on bilateral and international issues.

In September, Assad received a letter from President Sarkozy on developing bilateral relations and the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between Syria and France.

Sarkozy visited Damascus in September 2008 and January 2009. Assad visited Paris in July 2008.

During his meeting with the Syrian leader here in February, French Prime Minister Francois Fillon expressed his countryâ€™s desire to boost bilateral relations between Syria and France and Syriaâ€™s relation with the EU.

Damascus and Paris singed 11 agreements, documents and memos of understanding in various fields during the meeting.
