Baku-APA. The head of Iran’s atomic energy organisation, Ali Akbar Salehi said on Saturday that the fuelling of the country’s first nuclear power plant has now been completed, APA reports quoting thehindu.com website.
“All fuel assemblies have been loaded into the core of the reactor,” Iran’s Student News Agency (ISNA) quoted him as saying. “All we have to do now is to wait for the water inside the reactor’s core to warm gradually, and carry out another series of tests.” Mr. Salehi observed that it would now take around two months for the plant to join Iran’s national power grid.
Mr. Salehi said that Iran is set to import radio-medicine that is required for the treatment of cancer from Russia. He also stressed that some misunderstandings that had cropped up between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had now been cleared. Iran had in October commenced loading nuclear fuel rods into the core of its Russia built power reactor in Bushehr, clearing the last major hurdle in the way of the completion of the long delayed project.
