Baku-APA. At least two people were killed and 12 others injured on Thursday when a tanker truck carrying crude oil from Iraq exploded near the Jordanian-Iraqi border, a Jordanian official said, APA reports quoting Earth Times.

A number of people were also still missing as a result of the explosion, which occurred inside Iraqi territory as a result of a mistake in the unloading of the tanker, spokesman for the Public Security Directorate Major Mohammad Khatib said.

The blast also damaged about 20 other vehicles which were parked in the area.

Iraq supplies Jordan with about 10,000 barrels of crude oil daily at reduced prices in implementation of an agreement signed between the two countries three years ago.

To avoid security risks, Iraqi tankers carry the crude oil to an area near the border where it is transferred to Jordanian tankers.
