Baku-APA. All seven crew members were killed on Tuesday as a civilian cargo plane crashed east of the Afghan capital, a senior Afghan official said, APA reports quoting Earth Times.
"All the seven people aboard the plane died in the crash," Daud Ali Najafi, the country’s interim minister of transportation told the German Press Agency dpa.
He did not identify the nationalities of the victims.
However, the head of Kabul’s airport, Mohammad Jakub Rasuli had earlier said that there were eight passengers aboard and they included six Filipinos, a Kenyan and an Indian. He said that the rescue teams were making their way to the crash site.
The plane had departed Bagram, the main United States military base north of the capital, and was on its way to Kabul when it experienced technical problems, Rasuli said.
The plane was operated by the US firm National Air Cargo, which does some work for the US military, according to the firm’s website.
