Turkish FM pledges support for Kyrgyzstan
"We are at peace in Turkey if Kyrgyzstan is at peace and it is developing. We will continue to support Kyrgyzstan no matter which party comes to power in general the elections scheduled for October 10," Davutoglu told a conference on "dialogue, compromise and tolerance among different ethnic groups in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan, co-chairing the conference together with Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbaeva.
Davutoglu said Kyrgyzstan needed to maintain its national unity in order to secure economic growth, peace and political stability, adding that the general elections provided a unique opportunity to strengthen democracy and parliamentary system in the country.
â€Everyone should vote in the elections on October 10. Those who will come to the power would most certainly serve in the best interests of Kyrgyzstan," Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu said Turkey would encourage its businesspeople to make investments in Kyrgyzstan, adding that his country would also exert efforts to open more schools and universities in Kyrgyzstan.
"But you have maintain peace and stability in your country for businesspeople to make investments," Davutoglu said.
The Turkish foreign minister is expected to depart from Bishkek and proceed to Syria later this evening.
Also speaking in the conference, Kyrgyz President Otunbaeva said the conference was held on the initiative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, which she said showed the importance Turkey attached to peace between Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples.
Otunbaeva said Kyrgyz and Uzbek people spoke the same language, believed in the same faith and lived together with same and equal rights.
Otunbaeva said Kyrgyzstan appreciated Turkey’s support to the country.
