Baku-APA. Arab parliamentarians discussed here on Tuesday the latest regional developments, mainly direct negotiations between the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and Israel, as well as situation in Iraq, Lebanon and Sudan, APA reports quoting news.xinhanet.com website.

Arab Parliament reiterated its support for the Palestinian right to establish their own independent state, saying that the PNA should not go to negotiations unless Israel freezes its settlement building, Palestinian Fatah parliament bloc leader Azzam al-Ahmad told Xinhua.

Israel and PNA held direct talks in Washington on Sept. 2 after 20 months of suspension, the two sides then held another two rounds of talks in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Saad al-Jammal, deputy president of the Egyptian parliament foreign affairs committee told Xinhua that "one of the most important issues discussed during the conference was the latest Palestinian developments."

"The Permanent Committee stressed the necessity to lift the Israeli siege on Gaza and urged the international community to take firm measures against Israel," al-Jammal said.

Arab parliamentarians have paid two visits to the Gaza Strip within a year in a bid to break the Israeli siege on the Palestinians there. They have also sent aid convoys to the blockaded strip.
