Baku-APA. Gunmen have killed thirteen people, including 10 security forces, in an attack on an intelligence headquarters in southern Yemen, APA reports quoting presstv.ir website.
Witnesses say the incident took place in the Al-Tawahi district of the port city of Aden on Saturday and lasted for more than an hour.
The assailants "were seen leaving the building, taking people who had been detained there with them," they said.
A heavy exchange of gunfire at the scene of incident was also reported.
"Smoke rose from the area, which also houses the state television building," the southern port city’s residents told Reuters.
The attack, in the impoverished Arab state, may have been work of al-Qaeda.
A day earlier, the group’s Yemeni branch threatened retaliation against the government, in response to its crackdown against al-Qaeda members in the eastern part of the country.
