The violence in the country has worsened in recent days, with deadly inter-ethnic riots on Thursday in the southern city of Osh and Saturday’s unrest in another southern city of Jalalabad. The unrests claimed 77 lives and left 1024 injured.
The decree envisages the mobilization of the Kyrgyz armed forces "in order to ensure the security of citizens, to protect the constitutional order".
On June 13, Kyrgyz recruitment offices will start to register the reservists.
The list of the military units qualified for the mobilization will be determined, "on basis of [their] duties" performed to maintain the state of emergency.
Meanwhile, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) post-Soviet security bloc’s members are set to gather on Monday to discuss the possible deployment of peacekeeping contingent to the violence-hit Kyrgyzstan.
CSTO spokesperson said the upcoming meeting is aimed to "make proposals on the collective measures over the settlement of the Kyrgyz riots". The CSTO members will also discuss how to prevent the possible inter-ethnic conflicts in future, restore the order and provide the security in the country.
The CSTO includes Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
