“The government shutdown caused by the Democrats has led to great damage. 20,000 flights have been canceled or delayed. They have deprived more than one million federal employees of their salaries and millions of Americans in need of federal food stamps,” Trump said.
Trump added that tens of thousands of federal contractors and small businesses have been left without pay, and it will take several months to accurately calculate the total damage.
