The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras has declared Nasri Asfura, a representative of the National Party and endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump, the winner of the presidential election, CNE President Ana Paola Hall made the announcement in a video posted on her Facebook page, APA reports.
"By the will of the majority of voters in Honduras, expressed in a sovereign manner at the polling stations, the Plenum of the National Electoral Council declares citizen Nasri Juan Asfura Sabla, constitutionally elected President of the Republic of Honduras for a four-year term beginning on January 27, 2026, and ending on January 27, 2030, <…> who, representing the National Party of Honduras, with 18,757 protocols counted, equivalent to 97.86% of the protocols with results, received 1,479,748 valid votes," Hall read out the signed final protocol with the election results.
NIS member Cosette Lopez, in turn, reported that Nasri Asfoura received 40.27% of the vote, followed by Liberal Party candidate Salvador Nasralla, who received 39.53% of the vote. The ruling LIBRE candidate, Rixi Moncada, received 19.19%. She added that there was no mathematical probability of changing the final result.
