Former Brazilian President (2019-2022) Jair Bolsonaro successfully underwent a planned inguinal hernia operation, it was announced by surgeon Cláudio Birolini, who performed the operation, APA reports.
"Everything went according to plan, without complications," CNN Brasil quoted him as saying. The doctor added that Bolsonaro will undergo rehabilitation, including physical therapy and thrombosis prophylaxis.
Meanwhile, the former president continues to suffer from bouts of hiccups. Doctors are discussing the need for another procedure in the coming days to alleviate the symptoms. Chronic hiccups have plagued the former head of state since the 2018 assassination attempt, when he was stabbed in the stomach during the election campaign.
