Canada has announced a new wave of sanctions on Russia aimed at increasing economic pressure over its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, APA reports, citing canada.ca.

The measures, imposed under the Special Economic Measures (Russia) Regulations, target Russia’s energy revenues, financial enablers, and military capabilities, including conventional and hybrid forces.

The sanctions list 13 individuals and 11 entities, including several involved in Russia’s drone program, as well as entities supplying cyber infrastructure used in Russian hybrid operations against Ukraine. Several Russian liquified natural gas companies and 100 vessels from Russia’s “shadow fleet” are also included.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said the new sanctions respond directly to Ukraine’s priorities and align with efforts by the G7, as well as recent measures announced by the United States, European Union, and United Kingdom.

“These measures are designed to degrade Russia’s military capabilities and increase the costs of its aggression, while also targeting the financial and technological networks that sustain its war effort,” Anand said.
