In Washington, an official reception and banquet commemorating the Republic of Azerbaijan's Independence Day, the Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan's Armed Forces, and the 30th anniversary of the establishing of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United States were held, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the United States told APA.

The United States was represented at the event by Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Derek Hogan, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Celeste Wallender, and Brigadier General John Harrison, Chief of Staff of the Oklahoma National Guard. In addition, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Bureau of the Department of Defense, Lieutenant General Mark Sasseville, Co-Chair of the Working Group on Azerbaijan in the US Congress, Congressman Steve Shabot and Congressman Doug LaMalfa, as well as numerous assistants to members of Congress attended the event. The ceremony was also attended by ambassadors of about 20 countries, numerous military attaches, former special envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad, heads of Jewish organizations and more than 600 guests.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim spoke about various areas of strategic partnership and cooperation between our countries. The United States expressed interest in increasing support for Azerbaijan's post-conflict reconstruction, demining, and humanitarian assistance. It was noted that the strategic partnership between our countries is important in ensuring peace and security in our region.

During the banquet, videos dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan-US diplomatic relations and Armed Forces Day were shown.

In the musical part of the event, students of the Azerbaijani school in Washington performed the national dance "Nalbeki" and our compatriot Maryam Najafzadeh, who lives in the United States, performed our national dances based on music from the operas "Sari Gelin" and "Koroglu".

During the event, the guests were presented samples of Azerbaijani cuisine. Deputy Director General of the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center Jeyran Askerova and member of the Azerbaijan National Culinary Association Mirmovsum Dadashov prepared delicious dishes, sweets and syrups related to Azerbaijani cuisine, and Shah Plov, one of the masterpieces of Azerbaijani cuisine, was presented to the guests.

During the event, members of the Shur Trio Instrumental Group Vusal Iskanderzadeh, Abdulsamad Movlavi and Khalid Babayev performed pieces from national and world music. Our compatriot living in the United States Emil Afrasiyab performed on the piano, and Leyla Afrasiyab on vocals.

Samples of Azerbaijani carpet weaving art were exhibited at the ceremony. The guests were very interested in the Karabakh carpet, the silk carpet depicting the map of Azerbaijan, and the carpet "Archive 2" by modern artist Faig Ahmad. The event also featured examples of Azerbaijani painting, including paintings by our compatriot Abulfaz Bahadori living in the United States, books and publications on the history and culture of Azerbaijan and our liberated territories.
