Washington-APA. More than 30,000 people were urged to leave their flood-endangered western Washington homes as rampant flooding turns towns, highways and railroad tracks into swamps in Washington State.
Warmer temperatures and heavy rains were rapidly melting the deep snow that dumped on the Cascade mountains over the weekend.
Weather officials say the conditions for this type of weather began last weekend when the Cascade Mountains received massive snow falls. Avalanches of snow and mud approximately 100 yards wide caused evacuations of homes east of Snoqualmine Pass along with several condominium complexes.
Damaged infrastructure makes it difficult to evacuate the residents.
