Baku-APA. The United States said on Monday that it was ready to work with Russia’s President-elect Vladimir Putin, but called on the Russian government to look into electoral violations, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The State Department said that Washington looks forward to working with Russia’s "president-elect" once the results are certified and he is sworn in, but it neither mentioned Vladimir Putin by name nor extended congratulations to him for winning outright.

The agency’s statement instead congratulated the Russian people on the completion of the presidential election.

As the incumbent prime minister, Putin has won 63.6 percent of the votes after all ballots were counted, the Russian Central Election Commission reported on Monday.

Saying the U.S. endorsed the preliminary report and assessments by both foreign and local monitors, the State Department also took note of the irregularities such as "partisan use of government resources, and procedural irregularities on election day."

"We urge the Russian government to conduct an independent, credible investigation of all reported electoral violations," the agency said.
