Venezuela’s Chavez says he is recovering "quickly"

Bakuy-APA. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday he is recovering "quickly" after undergoing a surgery in Havana, Cuba, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Since Wednesday, Chavez has been updating his state of health via phone calls broadcasted by the official television and via his Twitter account.

"I can’t neglect my recovery treatment, not even a minute," Chavez said, "I continue recovering, thanks to Venezuela’ s support, to the Cuban people, to the doctors in Cuba and to the love from the people."

The president said the Cuban doctors provide him a special diet and that he has started daily walks. Chavez also said he spent time with his close relatives.

During a phone call with iron and steel workers in the southeastern state of Bolivar, Chavez asked them to increase their revolutionary consciousness.

He traveled on Feb. 24 to Havana for a new surgery, which was operated on Monday to remove a two-centimeter lesion located in the same place where on June 2011 a larger cancerous tumor was removed.

No information has been confirmed whether the new lesion is cancerous or not and Chavez didn’t provide any specific details of the surgery during the recent phone calls.

On Wednesday, Chavez posted a message by Twitter and said "Good night, my dear compatriots! I am here, spread the wings as the condor does."
