U.S.-Pakistan ties too important to turn back: Clinton

Baku-APA. U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton on Thursday said relations between the U.S. and Pakistan were "too important" for both countries to turn their back onç APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Speaking after a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on the sidelines of a one-day Somalia Conference held in London, Hilary said the U.S.-Pakistan ties were "simply too important to turn our back on it for both nations, and we both remain committed to working to improve understanding and cooperation."

Clinton admitted that relations between the U.S. and Pakistan were "in difficult times," but said Thursday’s talks with Khar were constructive and covered common concerns such as violent extremism, supporting Afghan-led reconciliation, and improving bilateral relations.

The U.S. relations with Pakistan cooled after 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed by U.S. forces last November, fuelling anti-U.S. sentiments across the country.
